Orthodontics Certificate

C. Brian Preston, D.D.S., Certificate in Orthodontics, Program Director
Department of Orthodontics
140 Squire Hall, 3435 Main Street
Buffalo, New York 14214-3008

The postgraduate program has been in existence since 1947 and is designed to prepare the student for the specialized practice of orthodontics.

The Department of Orthodontics offers two programs which, although not mutually exclusive, have different professional and educational objectives. The first of these, a 30-month program leading to the Certificate of Proficiency in Orthodontics, fulfills the educational requirements of the American Association of Orthodontics.

In conjunction with its clinical certificate program, the department also offers a mandatory Master of Science in Orthodontics (see graduate programs). Applicants must first be accepted in the certificate program before applying to the Graduate School for the Masters of Science Program (see Orthodontics graduate program for more details).

Many of the academic courses that are mandatory for clinical certification are Graduate School courses. Consequently, these credits also apply to the M.S. program.
