Message from the MSO President

I look forward to the opportunity to serve you as president of the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists for 2008-2009. We have a great group of officers and our board is second-to-none. It should be a great year for the MSO.

We are always looking for volunteers willing to serve in various positions, both in the MSO and the AAO. If you have an interest in serving our great specialty, I'm sure we can find a way for you to contribute that will be rewarding for you and beneficial for the organization. And, you can volunteer for your state association as well.

Our next MSO Board meeting is March 6-7, 2009, in St. Louis . If there are issues you would like us to discuss, be sure to talk to one of our officers or to the director from your state or province.

The MSO Annual Session will be held on October 16-17, 2009, at the Radisson Hotel in Minneapolis right at the University of Minnesota . The meeting features excellent speakers on a variety of health-related issues applicable to you, your patients and your staff. If you attended the MSO meeting in 1997 at the Mayo Clinic, this will be a similar format. Please save the date on your calendar, I look forward to seeing you in Minneapolis!

The recently-elected MSO officers are a unique group of four individuals. Brent Larson (second from right), president and John Kanyusik (right), president-elect are both from Minnesota, the first time two successive officers are from the same state while serving with two female officers, Jackie Miller (second from left), vice president and Babette Cohen (left), secretary-treasurer. In addition, a first of father-daughter officers of the MSO. Frank Miller served as MSO president in 1993 and Jackie will be president in 2011. Another first – husband and wife as officers of the MSO. Babette Cohen, who will be president in 2012 is the wife of Keith Levin, who served as MSO president in 2000.
