| The College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics was organized in 1979 by a small group of concerned diplomates to promote interest in Board certification by individual orthodontists. The American Board of Orthodontics had been founded in 1929 by the American Association of Orthodontists, and that association had also been organized by a small group of inspired individuals in 1900. The motives of all three organizations have been the same - the improvement of orthodontics in education, ethics, responsibility, and competence in practice. |
