Journal of the Japanese Orthodontic Society

The Japanese Orthodontic Society was founded in September 27, 1926 by eleven or thodontists. Some of them had learned orthodontics at the University or the Angle School in the United States. In October 21, 1930, the society had mem orial services for Dr. Edward H. Angle and the memorial meeting. In May, 19 31, the Japan Orthodontic Society with the component societies declared to b e representative organization of orthodontists in Japan. In July, 1931, an orthodontist represented the society at the Second International Orthodontic Congress which was held in London. In 1932, the first annual meeting of the society was held at Tokyo and the first volume of the Journal of the Japanese O rthodontic Society was published with 27 scientific papers, clinical essays and case reports. In 1976, the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the society was held at T okyo. In 1991, the 50th commemorative meeting of the society and the First Asian Pacific Orthodontic Conference was held at Osaka. The society has over 5,400 active members including 1580 with specialty cer tification, 16 honorary members including Dr. T. M. Graber and 33 supporting members. Eight Components Societies belong to the society. The Journal of Japanese Orthodontic Society is published six times in a year an d one out of six numbers is published as an English edition. Society member s benefit from a scientific journal and a newsletter (Ortho Info), training, insurance service, awards recognizing orthodontic excellence. The annual meeting of the society is held every year in late September October and is attended by more than 3,000 orthodontists, oral hygienists and manufactures. |
